Fee information
Fees per session are calculated in accordance with the rates recommended by the Board of Healthcare Funders of Southern Africa (BHF). The Practice Code Numbering System (PCNS) of the BHF is a list of unique practice billing codes for psychologists and healthcare services. The BHF administers the PCNS according to criteria set out by the Council for Medical Schemes. The National Health Reference Price List (NHRPL) which is released by the Department of Health sets the parameters for the fees. The fees are reviewed an adjusted on a yearly basis.
Dr. Kruger is registered with the Board of Healthcare Funders of Southern Africa. She is also registered with the various Medical schemes but due to recent changes in the way medical schemes process claims and that some do not cover services from Educational Psychologists, payment needs to be made upfront and a receipt will be issued in order for the client to claim back from their Medical scheme. Dr. Kruger charges the average of all medical scheme tariffs which means that refunding from a medical scheme might not be for the full amount as the rest is seen as a co-payment, however the fees are generally lower than the Medical scheme fees. There is a payment plan available over two installments applicable only for assessments with terms and conditions that apply.
- To confirm a therapeutic session, there is a R200 non-refundable booking fee. If the appointment is kept the fee will be subtracted from the consultation fee. If the booking fee is not made the appointment will be forfeited for another client. Should anything happen cancellations need to be made 24 hours in advance. The duration of Psychological consultation, counseling and or therapy sessions is 50-60 minutes (Procedural code: 86205) or 61-70 minutes (Procedural code: 86206). The fee will be adjusted accordingly should the time differ. Contact Dr. Kruger for session fees.
- To confirm an assessment (Educational or Emotional) there is a R500 non-refundable booking fee which forms part of the assessment fee. A complete Educational assessment for Primary school learners takes 3 ½ hours and for High school learners it takes 5 hours (Procedure code: 86211 per session and 86290). Emotional assessments have the same code. Cancellations need to be made 24 hours in advance. Assessments can be adjusted to address the client’s needs. Please contact Dr. Kruger to discuss the fees and needs as it can result in fee adjustments.
- There is also an ICD-10 code which stands for International Classification of Disease that is on the receipt. These codes have been revised by the World Health Organization (WHO) and is a standardized means to communicate a specific diagnosis to Medical schemes. This code cannot be provided beforehand as it depends on the information obtained during the consultation or assessment.
Clients are required to provide their e-mail address in order to provide them with the necessary forms and information to confirm an appointment.
Payment options: Cash, EFT, YOCO card payments (+3% bank surcharge). There is not a 15% VAT charge.
